All components of Enaahtig's program are designed, developed and delivered by trained Indigenous Professionals with input from Enaahtig's Elder's Advisory Circle to ensure appropriate cultural content. As the weather cools and the leaves start to fall, there’s nothing like the smell of fresh muffins baking in the oven. This Rhubarb Muffin recipe, shared by Sylvia Thompson, is a sweet reminder of home, comfort, and community. 🍂

🍁 Rhubarb Muffins 🍁
½ cup unsalted butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
½ tsp vanilla
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
1 cup milk
2 cups rhubarb or cranberries (chopped)
½ cup walnuts or pecans (optional)

Preheat oven to 400°F.
Line muffin tin with paper liners.
Mix butter and sugar until light. Add egg and vanilla, then blend well.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add half the flour to the butter mixture, then add half the milk. Mix lightly, then repeat with the rest of the ingredients.
Fold in rhubarb (and nuts if using).
Fill muffin cups and bake 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Makes 12 muffins.

Perfect for using rhubarb or cranberries from your freezer, and best enjoyed warm, shared with loved ones. 💛

A wholesome treat to share and enjoy 🍎 These Apple Sauce Cranberry Oatmeal Bars are full of hearty ingredients and naturally sweet flavours, perfect for a fall afternoon or community gathering.

Ingredients
• 1.5 cups spelt flour
• 1 cup rolled oats
• 1/2 cup wheat germ
• 2 tsp baking soda
• 2 tsp cinnamon
• 1 cup thick apple sauce
• 1/2 cup cranberry juice
• 2/3 cup orange juice
• 1/3 cup honey
• 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
• 1.5 tsp vanilla
• 1 cup carob chips

Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly oil a cookie sheet. In a medium bowl, mix together dry ingredients and set aside. In another bowl, blend wet ingredients, then stir in carob chips. Combine the dry and wet mixtures—do not overmix. Pour onto the pan and bake for 35–40 minutes, until the cake begins to pull away from the sides. Cool completely on a wire rack, cut into bars, and enjoy!

Our Orientation to Youth Wellness program is a 3-day residential experience for youth ages 16–18, designed to introduce them to the lodge, staff, and animals before joining the full program. Youth explore land-based and cultural learning, equine-assisted activities, and art-based expression to support their wellness goals.

We honour Survivors of residential schools, remember those who never returned home, and acknowledge the lasting impacts of these institutions, including intergenerational trauma and the role they play in gender-based violence in Indigenous communities.

Wearing an orange shirt is a reminder of our collective responsibility to listen, learn, and work toward reconciliation. Every Child Matters. 🧡

Eligibility: All self-identified Indigenous youth and adults with matters in Simcoe County courts.Supports Available: Provide community advocacy and assistance to Individuals navigating the court system who have criminal matters in Simcoe County, Provide direct services and make necessary referrals to other programs and services within Enaahtig, and externally in the community (e.g. corrections, etc.), and Assist with the recommendations of an Individual’s Gladue report, as well as support Individuals with follow-through of their recommendations before, or upon sentencing.
